About Me

Hey! I'm Remi, though I usually go by Lazy when it comes to music.

I'm a blind music producer from Norway, and I figured it was about time I made a page where people could learn a little about me. If you've ended up here, chances are this is the first time you've heard of me, so I hope this gives you a bit of an idea of who I am, how I got into music, and how I ended up where I am today.

Where It All Began

I've always been interested in music. In my opinion, music can be used in so many different ways. It can help you express yourself, deal with emotions, tell stories, or sometimes it's just fun to sit down and make something.

When I was younger, I tried quite a few different things. I learned piano for a while, played in an orchestra, and later had guitar lessons from around 2016 until 2022. Unfortunately, I had to stop those when I changed schools, but I'll get back to that later.

Anyway, I'm getting a little ahead of myself.

Back in 2019, a friend of mine who I looked up to a lot passed away. Before he did, I had listened to some of the music he made. Looking back, I think it was a combination of losing him and really liking his music that made me interested in music production. I can't say for certain, but that's probably where it all started.

Let's Jump Ahead a Bit

I didn't really get the hang of things until 2021, when I started producing music in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The DAW I chose was REAPER. It's definitely not the most common choice, but it works really well with screen readers, so it just seemed like the most logical option for me.

At first, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

I started out trying to make trap music, mostly because that's what I happened to find tutorials for. It didn't take long before I realized it wasn't really for me. It felt a bit limiting, and honestly, it just wasn't the kind of music I wanted to make. So I started experimenting with different genres to see what I enjoyed the most.

Around that same time, one of my friends noticed that I had started making music. He was just getting into it as well, so we decided to make a YouTube channel together where we could upload our music and collaborate. We called it RBT Productions.

Believe it or not, that channel is actually still around today, even though we haven't uploaded anything to it in years. We even had a website, a Bandcamp page, and a Twitter account that, if I remember correctly, never really got used. Looking back at it now is kind of funny, but it was a big part of learning and figuring things out.

2022 and Onwards

I honestly feel like the years from 2022 until now have been the biggest turning point in my journey as a musician.

In 2022, I started attending Greåker Videregående on the music program, and it opened me up to so many new experiences. I met some amazing people, learned a lot about music, and got to know people who were just as interested in music as I was.

One of the biggest things for me was performing live.

Up until then, I had been very used to recording things over and over again until I was happy with them. If I made a mistake, I'd just record another take. Live performances don't work like that. You get one chance, and whatever happens, happens.

At first, that was honestly pretty scary.

I've always been a bit of a perfectionist, and while I still am, I've learned that not everything has to be perfect. Sometimes people don't even notice the little mistakes that seem huge when you're the one making them.

One of my friends once said something that has stuck with me ever since:

"If what you play is always perfect, it's not human."

I still think about that quote from time to time.

So... Where Am I Now?

Well... here, I guess.

For a long time, I mostly just made music because I enjoyed it. I never really shared it properly or had one place where people could actually find it.

That's a big part of why I made this website.

It's a place where I can share my music, projects, and whatever else I happen to be working on. Since you're probably here for the first time, I hope you'll stick around, have a look around the site, and maybe even find a song or two that you enjoy.
